Paths and walling

New paving at the front of the house

1. Front garden paths and wall

The front paths had been concrete ever since we arrived, and was cracked and uneven. The only entrance to the house was along the driveway, a hedge bordering the entire front of the house. Management decided a path up to the front door would be nice, so a gap in the hedge was created, and a new path laid. The path in front of the house was widened. The old tarmac drive was dug up and replaced with block paving, to match the paving at the rear of the house. Eventually a random stone wall was built at the front, in front of the hedge.

2. Rear patio block paving

The area to the rear of the house has undergone a number of changes over the years.

It started in 1986 as an area covered in tarmac, with an area growing some admittedly pleasant plants, many of which are still with us in different locations.

In 1991 Tegula block pavers were laid, and in 2019 these were redesigned and relaid following the building of a garden room extension.
